(Excerpted from Charleston Regional Business Journal Jan. 27 – Feb. 9, 2020)
Companies today are expected to have a social media presence. It’s a vital part of any organizations’ marketing efforts which means you need to be thoughtful about the content you create, the platforms you use, and how you engage with current customers and potential customers.
Social media can feel overwhelming. Algorithms are constantly changing, and new features and platforms pop up regularly. How do you know where to focus your efforts? Keep these tips in mind as you continue moving forward in 2020:
Be prepared to allocate more monies to your social media advertising budget. Both Facebook and Instagram algorithms are focusing less on business pages and business content. And both platforms are starting to hide the likes total from posts. This means you have to pay to play.
Stand out by using Facebook groups for your business and provide value to your customers. Facebook is prioritizing groups and This is an excellent way to reward your customers, discuss current events, communicate with your top advocates, promote events, and keep in touch with your employees.
Users are scrolling the feeds less and less and gravitating more toward quick and easy posts. Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and get creative with Facebook and Instagram stories, IGTV and live video. Facebook’s video component is a serious contender for YouTube.
